Former NBA player Sebastian Telfair has been arrested on Sunday in Brooklyn on weapons and marijuana-related charges. Police apparently found firearms inside his vehicle which led to them arresting him and his friend, who was accompanying him.

According to the Associated Press, multiple guns and drugs were found in the car he was driving after they stopped the vehicle following suspicion that the two had illegal items with them.

“Police say the 32-year-old Telfair and another man were arrested early Sunday morning after police found firearms, a semi-automatic rifle, ammunition, a ballistic vest and marijuana inside their vehicle.”

“Telfair and another friend were arrested in 2007 after a traffic stop when police found a loaded handgun in the vehicle. He pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon and was sentenced to three years of probation.”

Telfair was the 13th overall pick in the 2004 draft by the Portland Trail Blazers and played 10 seasons in the NBA. His last stint was with the Oklahoma City Thunder back in the 2014-2015 campaign, where he suited up for the team in 16 games.

No statement has been issued so far by the authorities as well as Telfair’s camp, but they are all expected to release one after the investigation has been completed.
