It may surprise you to find out that former Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal is an avid player and fan of Esports. After O'Neal's NRG eSports took the championship Week 4 win against Rich Fox's Echo Fox squad team in the Esports series Counter-Strike: Global Offensive League, the legendary Laker was not shy about boasting his success.
It's fun to see Shaq's competitive edge we all know and love transfer over to this emerging market for gamers and sports fans. He seems to have enjoyed his time getting involved from the beginning, even investing in Esports early on.
With Shaq backing the Esports culture and adding his own personality to the community, this realm of competition has high hopes to become more legitimate in the sports space.
