Simone Biles may have withdrawn from the Tokyo Olympics due to mental health problems, but she is still surprisingly being honored above the likes of Super Bowl winner Tom Brady and NBA icon LeBron James.

Time Magazine has just named Biles the 2021 Athlete of the Year, even beating out Suni Lee, who proved to be Team USA's standout gymnast at the summer games. This is definitely a controversial pick after Biles dealt with a case of the twisties, which prevented the 4x Olympic gold medalist from competing.

Simone Biles revealed that she was seeing a therapist to help with her mental health issues and received massive praise from the sports world for being brave enough to speak out on the matter.

Brady meanwhile, led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl in his first season with the team. It kind of seems more fitting that he should've won this award but then again, it's simply the opinion of Time Magazine.

Lee, a freshman at Auburn University, was named Athlete of the Year by Sports Illustrated alongside swimmer Caleb Dressler. She and Simone Biles shared a special bond in Tokyo.

Congratulations to Biles on the honor. It's definitely a special one.
