The Singapore Major is in full swing, going into Day 3 of the Playoffs. Later, the ā€œFinal Bossā€ of the Major will be fighting for survival. Meanwhile, Evil Geniuses once again secures third place in a Dota 2 Major. Finally, both the highest-scoring team and the lowest-scoring team from the group stage fight for survival today. How did all these come to be? Let's recap the Singapore Major Playoffs Day 3 results.

EVIL GENIUSES SECURES YET ANOTHER THIRD PLACE FINISH WITH WIN OVER INVICTUS GAMING (2-0)

North America triumphed today as NA secures a semi-final slot. Evil Geniuses defeated Invictus Gaming clean as a whistle. For both of their quick, thirty-minute wins, we've got Crit-ā€˜s amazing roaming support to thank for. His performance really enabled his team to win their lanes, actively ganking and giving his core players both kills and space. Couple this with one of the best carries in the world's ability to farm ultra-fast, and you have a recipe for a quick finish. Arteezy's heroes require lots of farm to go online, yet both his Terrorblade and Alchemist were already online in mere fifteen minutes. If people were doubting EG's capabilities before this match, they should change their mind just about now.

Evil Geniuses fans may have been confident in their team's performance before. But now that Evil Geniuses has secured third place, it's time for them to pay attention and watch. After a year of lockdowns, is Evil Geniuses still cursed to always finish third in Majors? We'll find out soon. The team they're fighting next already felled a giant in the previous round. EG will have to play smart if they want to overcome their curse.

SINGAPORE MAJOR ā€œFINAL BOSSā€ TEAM SECRET FALLS TO WILD CARD TEAM PSG.LGD (2-1)

This might seem to be one of the biggest upsets in the tournament so far, but PSG.LGD has a clear track record of performing really well where it matters. While it's not exactly the same team that finished second place in TI8 and 3rd place in TI9, the same organization behind PSG.LGD has enabled it to continue performing consistently in Majors. With Ame as the team's anchor, they definitely had a fighting chance against The Singapore Major's ā€œFinal Boss.ā€

However, this doesn't mean that PSG.LGD beat Team Secret easily. They really had to fight for it. After beating Team Secret in a very dominant game one, Team Secret fought back with a stomping at Game 2. Team Secret was so dominant in Game 2 that PSG.LGD called it quits in just 23-minutes. Any other team would have been shaken after that, but PSG.LGD bounced back in Game 3, completely shutting off Team Secret's cores with their effective push strat.

Now, Team Secret will have to fight for survival in the lower bracket. Meanwhile, PSG.LGD will have the opportunity to reach the Grand Final. For a Wild Card team, that's already a long journey. But just a little bit more, and they'll prove to the world that they are a top contender that no one should be sleeping on.

NEON ESPORTS UPSETS VICI GAMING, SINGAPORE MAJOR CINDERELLA RUN FACES A ROADBLOCK (2-1)

If it's their previous matchup in the group stage would be your basis in calling this match, no one will blame you if you hedge your bets with Vici Gaming. They 2-0'ed Neon in the group stage, after all. But OB Esports Neon surprised everyone with a very gutsy performance in this series. After losing Game 1 against Vici Gaming, Neon finally had enough. With Nature's Prophet open in both Game 2 and Game 3, Neon punished VG for not respecting their pocket pick. Both skem and deth played the hero really well, and the switching of roles for the hero between Games 2 and 3 may have caught Vici Gaming off-guard. A bold Leshrac pick for the safe lane paid dividends as Neon ravaged through VG in mere 28-minutes in Game 3.

But Neon's cinderella run in the lower bracket is now facing a roadblock. The ā€œFinal Bossā€ of the tournament has come early, and now they will have to overcome Team Secret if they wish to proceed in the tournament. In any case, Neon holds a unique advantage over Team Secret that no other team in the Singapore Major has. Their unorthodox way drafting may be something that Team Secret's analytical captain Puppey may have not figured out yet. Will their unconventional drafts be enough to put the decorated Puppey off-guard?

THUNDER PREDATOR KEEPS THE SA DREAM IN THE SINGAPORE MAJOR ALIVE (2-0)

Let's all be honest, most of us weren't able to forecast this. Thunder Predator returns to their dominating form, just a day after being sent to the lower bracket by Team Secret. They didn't let their loss in the previous day rattle them. Instead, Thunder Predator returned to form and completely dominated the CIS bears. Both games ended with a 25:10 kill score, showing how Thunder can keep this level of performance consistently. In both games, Thunder Predator completely dominated in all aspects of the game.

With Virtus.pro taken care of, Thunder Predator will be facing Invictus Gaming next. Now, will Thunder Predator continue their hot streak and take down yet another Playoffs Seed team? If they do, then it might lead to a rematch with Team Secret in the lower bracket semi-finals. But we'll have to wait and see the results of today's matches first. If anything, today's matches are going to be really exciting. The Singapore Major really marks the triumphant return of Dota 2 LAN events, live audiences be damned.
