They’ll never admit it, but it’s hard to say that the Philadelphia 76ers weren’t tanking these past few years.

With the way things are looking, it seems that the question of not caring about losses won’t be asked for the coming years.

The future is now for the Sixers. They got two young lads in Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid who were both tagged as franchise player material before their respective drafts. Dario Saric has finally arrived after honing his craft in Europe. Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor, regardless if both stay or one of them gets traded, figure to be very reliable big men in the coming years.

All these have led coach Brett Brown to shifting his focus on the next phase of the Sixers’ transformation, and that is player development, per Keith Pompey’s article for Philly.com.

“The difference is everybody is going to want to win some games,” the fourth-year coach said Thursday in the second-floor dining room of Lo Spiedo at the Navy Yard. “Let's call it for what it is. I feel like that we are going to want to see growth on the court as it relates to wins.”

“And we are going to see the path of these young guys slowly start to look like they belong on an NBA court,” Brown said. “And we all say, ‘Wow, project Joel Embiid out in two or three years.' “

Brett Brown must be ecstatic over finally getting a real opportunity to coach the team and make it grow. He has one of the league’s best young talent at his disposal and the future is certainly exciting for every Sixers fans alike.
