PJ Tucker knows what Philadelphia 76ers fans demand from their players, and he is ready to live up to those expectations.

After signing a three-year and fully guaranteed $33.2 million deal with the Sixers this free agency, Tucker delivered a rather bold promise to help the team reach the next level.

“This team is good enough to compete head-to-head with anybody in the league, and I'm going to come in here and do whatever I can to help get us to that next level. Philly fans demand greatness and it will be up to us to get to where we need to be,” Tucker said of joining the Sixers, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The Sixers have repeatedly failed to break through in the playoffs despite having an MVP-caliber talent in Joel Embiid. While they have been consistent postseason fixtures since Embiid came, they have never actually reached the Conference Finals, let alone the NBA Finals.

Philly even added James Harden via trade last season, but his presence didn't even help prevent another second-round exit.

With PJ Tucker coming in, though, the Sixers added a solid contributor and veteran presence who has championship experience. Sure enough, Philly is hoping he could be the missing piece to get things together.

“We’re excited to add his leadership, toughness, defensive versatility and championship pedigree to our roster. P.J. wants to deliver an NBA title to Philadelphia and his work ethic and mentality make him an impactful addition,” Sixers president Daryl Morey said, per Winderman.

It remains to be seen how things will pan out for the Sixers with Tucker coming in, but fans certainly have reason to be optimistic about his addition.
