Al Horford is not quite ready to call his new stint with the Philadelphia 76ers a championship-or-bust mission, but rather a work in progress next to his new teammates. While the title expectation is certainly there for a playoff-bound team, Horford is just happy to be on the good side after switching to the other side of the rivalry after three seasons with the Boston Celtics:

“I don’t know if I would view it that way,” Horford said of the championship expectations, according to Pat Gallen of CBS Philly. “I wanna see how much we can grow as a group and progress and play the right way. We do have expectations, but I don’t wanna put a ceiling to what we can do but obviously we expect to win a championship.”

Horford still recalls the battles with Joel Embiid during his time in Boston, but is glad to share the frontcourt with him as he awaits the season opener against his old team:

“It was always intense, but I’m happy to be on the good side now,” Horford said. “And I’m hoping that we’re able to bring some special moments to all the people here in Philadelphia.”

Horford's move to Philadelphia completely changed the scope of this rivalry, as he acted as Embiid's kryptonite in prior seasons, while the Celtics have been left with Enes Kanter as his replacement after shipping out trusty backup Aron Baynes to the Phoenix Suns in the summer.
