IIt's crazy how sometimes people who watch the modern NBA forget how great a player Michael Jordan was in his heyday. In a time when the whole league was arguably in its most competitive state, he found a way to stand out and establish himself as the best player in the game.

His influence extended outside of the court and of the sport of basketball as well. He is so well respected among NBA circles that legends of the game like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson look up to him.

Aside from being a great player, Michael Jordan was also known as one of the most competitive athletes ever. He would take every chance he got to let you know he was better than you, especially against the elite players in the game.

In an interview with Complex, Iverson details his first meeting with the “G.O.A.T”

“The first time I ever talked to him was, um, that year playing the rookie game and I'll never forget it 'cause he said ‘What's up you lil' b*tch'. I'll never forget it.”

Iverson also mentions how intimidating it was to play against Jordan and how one could almost see the ‘aura' that he wears.

At that time, Iverson was an up and coming star for the Philadelphia 76ers and was quickly becoming one of the most exciting players to watch in the NBA. He was also one of the most competitive players ever. In fact, in their third meeting in Iverson's rookie season, Iverson dropped 37 on Jordan's Bulls and topped it off with the iconic crossover on none other the Michael Jordan himself.

Maybe Michael Jordan was just trying to get in Iverson's head with that greeting but he may also be showing his respect to him at the same time.
