Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Ben Simmons says the Sixers' loss to the Phoenix Suns on Monday was “a good wake up for us.”

The Sixers suffered their first loss of the season, with the Suns defeating them by a final score of 114-109.

Simmons struggled in the loss to the Suns. He put up just six points, five rebounds and six assists in 36 minutes. The former Rookie of the Year is still shooting all of his shots in the paint, choosing not to shoot jump shots or 3-pointers after working on that aspect of his game over the summer.

Overall on the season, Simmons is averaging 15.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game while shooting 49.4 percent from the field.

The Sixers will get All-Star center Joel Embiid back for Wednesday's game against the Utah Jazz. Embiid was suspended two games after getting into a fight with Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns.

For the Sixers to win it all this season, Simmons has to develop some resemblance of a jump shot. The way he's playing right now doesn't work in the postseason when the game slows down and becomes more half-court orientated.

Teams will just pack the paint against the Sixers, which will not enable Embiid to feast in the post.
