The Sixers were a solid team last season, posting a 51-31 record but losing to the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The team's chemistry was good, but Ben Simmons believes it's even better in this campaign.

“Definitely,” Simmons told ESPN. “The chemistry is much better. Guys are giving up their time to bond.”

One such bonding event came earlier this season, according to ESPN. Simmons' half-brother, Sean Tribe, was watching a Lakers-Bulls games with Joel Embiid and other Sixers staffers in a hotel lounge earlier this month. Tribe asked Simmons to swing by, and he did. Together, they watched LeBron lead Los Angeles to a come-from-behind victory.

The Sixers are off to a nice start to this season. At 9-5, they're currently 5th in the Eastern Conference standings.

Simmons, now in his third season with Philly, has been a major factor in his team's early success. Through 12 games played, the former No. 1 overall pick has racked up averages of 14.1 points on 58.4 percent shooting from the field, 7.6 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 2.2 steals in 33.8 minutes pr outing.

Prior to Wednesday night's game against the Knicks, Simmons was 0-for-17 from beyond the arc throughout his career. In his 172nd NBA game, he made one.

“It feels good to put work in in the summer and it pays off,” Simmons said, via ESPN, after Philadelphia's 109-104 win over the Knicks on Wednesday night.

According to ESPN, Simmons' last three came when he was a freshman at LSU playing against the College of Charleston. He worked on his outside game in the offseason, so we'll have to keep an eye out for more three-point attempts.

The Sixers will be back in action on Friday night, when they'll serve as hosts to the San Antonio Spurs. Tip-off inside the Wells Fargo Center is set for 8:00 p.m. ET, with ESPN having live broadcast coverage.
