The Philadelphia 76ers finally managed to get back into the win column with their Christmas Day win over the New York Knicks. Unfortunately, the victory has done little to negate the disastrous month the Sixers have suffered, however, there could be some help on the way with rookie guard Markelle Fultz making some recent progression with his shoulder injury.

That said, it seems the Sixers are already starting to think about how they can incorporate Fultz into the mix. According to Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer, rookie phenom point guard Ben Simmons is looking forward to sharing the backcourt with a fellow first overall pick:

“I know he wants to get out there. He can't wait. I'm looking forward to playing with him just because the start of the season, you could see a lot of potential with him. I think we're going to have a great chemistry once he gets back.”

While Simmons' early claims may be considered a bit bold, it is indicative of the confidence he has in Fultz despite all the speculation regarding his recovery process. Considering his porous play whenever budding superstar center Joel Embiid is ruled out, it is clear that Simmons may need some help shouldering the load.

There was plenty of hype surrounding the Sixers coming into the 2017-18 NBA season thanks to their bevy of former No. 1 overall picks. More importantly, they have followed up that hype for most of the year up until December. That said, Philadelphia could definitely use a boost while their young roster continues to get accustomed to the rigors of a full NBA schedule.
