Another day, another rough night from the charity stripe for Philadelphia 76ers superstar Ben Simmons. The 24-year-old struggled once again from the free-throw line on Wednesday night as the Sixers dropped a pivotal Game 5 against the Atlanta Hawks with the Hawks taking a huge 3-2 series lead.

Simmons was again ice-cold from the line. He shot 4-14 (28.5%) in Game 5 and, according to Brand Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green, the three-time All-Star is now shooting just 32.8% from the charity stripe in the playoffs. That's rough.

Shooting has been the biggest kryptonite of the young Australian's game. In his short time in the league, the big court general has developed into one of the best two-way guards in the entire league. His ability to facilitate in offense and get his teammates involved alongside his impeccable defensive prowess (not to mention his 6'11” frame) has been an exciting sight to see for Philly fans everywhere.

Unfortunately, his shooting form has been subpar in his fourth season in the league which is tough for a player who needs the ball a lot in order to be effective on offense. Given that his three-point shooting has been virtually invisible, Simmons attacks the paint a lot but his free-throw shooting woes give the defense the automatic option of just sending him to the line. He's been shooting a dismal 59.7% from the charity stripe for his career, which drops down to 54.3% when it comes to the post-season.

Obviously, there are a lot of things to be discussed when it comes to Philly's playoff struggles and it shouldn't all boil down to Simmons' shooting form. But, if the Sixers want to move forward and take the next step, it seems that this particular facet of their starting guard's game must be addressed sooner rather than later.
