As a native of Australia, Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons was clearly affected by the recent mass shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand that left 49 dead.

The Sixers star showed his support to the victims and their families before Friday's game against the Sacramento Kings, using his sneakers to make a statement.

In a simple yet eloquent message written on his sneakers before the game, Simmons pleads for people to “Pray for NZ” after the horrific events of the shootings at two mosques.

Simmons isn’t the most outspoken player in the NBA (nor on his own team), so for him to write this phrase on his shoes means he wants to bring attention to this tragedy during the game as he plays against the Kings.

It's great to see players like Ben Simmons use their massive platform to bring light to issues like this one. Terrorism has no room in this world, and only if people start noticing and fighting it together that it will be prevented and totally stopped.

Portland Trail Blazers center Enes Kanter, who has never shied away from speaking up about terrorism and political abuse, also showed his support to the victims of the New Zealand tragedy and condemned the act of terrorism that happened.
