In the latest episode of “Cold As Balls” with actor Kevin Hart, Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Ben Simmons says he started to believe in the Sixers' rookie curse after he broke his foot during his first season in the NBA.

Simmons suffered a fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone of his right foot and missed his entire rookie season. He became the third player to miss his rookie season as a member of the Sixers, joining Nerlens Noel (ACL) and Joel Embiid (broken foot).

“I was aware of it (rookie curse),” Simmons told Hart. “After that (injury) happened, I was like, ‘This is real.' “

Luckily for Sixers fans, Ben Simmons was healthy last season and won the Rookie of the Year award. The lefty averaged 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game.

Simmons made his first All-Star team this season. The 2016 No. 1 overall pick is putting up 16.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 7.9 assists this year while shooting 57.1 percent from the field. The Sixers are 37-21, good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

That rookie curse in Philadelphia is still going on, though. Markelle Fultz only played in 14 games last season due to scapular muscle imbalance in his right shoulder, and Zhaire Smith hasn't played at all this season, as he's recovering from a fracture in his left foot.
