Sixers All-Star Ben Simmons underwent an X-ray examination on his right shoulder, the results of which came back negative. According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the former No. 1 overall pick is expected to undergo further evaluations on Thursday to determine his status for Friday's matchup against the Denver Nuggets:

Simmons' injury appeared to occur while he was making a post-up move in the first quarter of Wednesday night's 106-104 loss to the Utah Jazz. He reached for his shoulder in pain, then made his way to the locker room:

The initial report for his ailment was listed as a “sprain of the AC joint.” He logged just 10 minutes, scoring two points and two assists.

The Sixers missed his presence:

“Defense is where we felt the pain of not having him the most,” Sixers head coach Brett Brown told ESPN, referring to Simmons' absence in the second half.

Hopefully, Simmons' injury isn't too severe, as the Sixers will need his services going forward. He has made seven appearances this season, racking up averages of 13.1 points on 49.4 percent shooting from the field, 6.9 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 3.0 steals in 31.9 minutes per outing.

The Sixers fell to 5-2 with Wednesday night's loss. Whether or not Ben Simmons will be available for Friday's game remains to be seen. Tip-off inside the Pepsi Center is set for 9:00 p.m. ET.
