The Philadelphia 76ers need a new head coach after firing Brett Brown and they could pursue Billy Donovan, per Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Donovan and the Oklahoma City Thunder mutually agreed to part ways on Tuesday. Donovan's contract ended after OKC lost to the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2020 playoffs and the two sides decided not to pursue extension talks.

The Sixers got swept in the first round of the 2020 playoffs by the Boston Celtics. The team played without All-Star point-forward Ben Simmons, who was out with a knee injury.

Billy Donovan guided the Thunder to the playoffs each season he was in OKC. Sixers general manager Elton Brand will likely take his time in finding his next head coach. He also has to decide if he wants to keep Simmons and Joel Embiid together or split the two All-Stars up since they continue to be a bad fit alongside each other.

Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue has been heavily linked to the Sixers' job as well. It's going to be very interesting to see who Brand ends up interviewing and hiring.

One thing every Sixers fan wants to see is Brand trade big man Al Horford, whose first season in Philadelphia was a disaster. Brand, if he decides to keep Simmons and Embiid together, needs to acquire more shooters around Ben and JoJo.
