Sixers forward Mike Scott left Tuesday night's Game 5 matchup against the Nets with a right heel contusion and did not return to play. As a result, head coach Brett Brown is preparing for the first game of the semifinals under the impression that Scott will not be available.

On Thursday morning, ESPN's Tim Bontemps reported that Scott is still dealing with the ailment, which could keep him sidelined as the Sixers move into the second round:

Scott is currently listed as day-to-day with a right heel bruise, but there are some reports indicating that he also has plantar fasciitis. If true, he would need a fair amount of rest to recover — a luxury that will not be afforded to the Sixers as they move into the semifinals. Philadelphia is expected to provide an update on Scott's status by Friday afternoon.

Scott, who did not participate in Wednesday's practice session, has become a key member of Philadelphia'a bench unit. In 27 regular season appearances with the Sixers, the former University of Virginia standout racked up averages of 5.8 points on 40.0 percent shooting from the field (40.1 percent from beyond the arc), 3.5 rebounds and just under one assist (0.8) in 24.0 minutes per contest.

The Sixers will face the Toronto Raptors in the second round. Tip-off for Game 1 is still to be determined, but TNT will have live broadcast coverage.
