Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand has the public seal of approval of Sixers head coach Brett Brown.

Per ESPN's Tim Bontemps, the seventh-year coach praised his GM, saying Brand deserves a contract for the next half-century.

Brand ascended to his current role with the Sixers in the wake of Bryan Colangelo's controversial exit following his semi-anonymous trail of social media outbursts regarding the team.

The former first-overall pick from the 1999 draft and Rookie of the Year joined the Sixers organization in 2017 as a player development consultant and later GM of the then-D-League affiliate Delaware 87ers. Seemingly out of nowhere though, the former two-time All-Star became in charge of basketball operations two years after retiring.

While Brand did not make moves tying the current success of the Sixers back to drafting All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, he oversaw the trade that brought Jimmy Butler in just two months into the job. Brand also later dealt Butler this past summer in a sign-and-trade with the Miami Heat, yielding in return promising wing Josh Richardson.

Moreover, Brand signed All-Star big man Al Horford in the summer, snagging him away from division rivals Boston Celtics. It is also worth noting he traded for forward Tobias Harris at last year's deadline, later re-signing the former member of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Elton Brand's tenure as GM in Philly hasn't been unscrutinized, though. There's a clash in thinking between the viability of Simmons and Embiid on the roster along with the Sixers giving up on former first-overall pick Markelle Fultz, who is coming alive with the Orlando Magic.
