In his second full season, Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has continued to show much promise in his play on the court.

However, he has yet to play in any back-to-back sets through the first half of the season. According to Keith Pompey of The Inquirer, head coach Brett Brown has indicated that Embiid will likely play in such games scheduling at some point this month or in February.

Embiid had said he would be scheduled play on consecutive nights this month or in February.

Colangelo, however, said there’s no timeline for Embiid.

“But we are trending in a positive way there,” he said. “Again, consistency. Young teams struggle with consistency.”

The first opportunity for Embiid to possibly take the court for a back-to-back set would be at the end of this month with a pair of road games on the 28th against the Oklahoma City Thunder and 29th against the Milwaukee Bucks. However, this scenario would likely see the 23-year-old sit out the contest a few nights later on the 31st against the Brooklyn Nets.

If Brown elects to wait until next month, there are two more sets of back-to-backs. The first is the beginning of the month on Feb. 2 at home against the Miami Heat, and on the road the following night for a meeting with the Indiana Pacers. The latter features a contest at home on Feb. 24 against the Orlando Magic and Feb. 25 on the road up against the Washington Wizards.

The fact that there are fewer back-to-backs in the NBA schedule now could bode well for him playing in them if he's able to show that he can physically handle that type of workload. However, this may hinge on him first showing that he's in the right physical condition to participate in daily as Brown had revealed just over a week ago that Embiid has yet to do that. Ultimately, it's clearly something that the 76ers are keeping an eye on over the next several weeks.
