Tobias Harris is averaging 15 shots per game this season, but Sixers head coach Brett Brown wants his starting small forward to be even more aggressive on offense moving forward.
Brown believes Harris, who is averaging 18.4 points per game, has been a little bit too unselfish at times for the Sixers.
“I want him to have a scorer's mentality,” Brown said. “I still think he passes up two threes a game. We have gone through him and put him in environments and he is such an unselfish player that sometimes he doesn't defer, he just makes a pass that maybe he might not need to.”
While Joel Embiid is the best player in Philly, opposing teams can double-team him in the post late in the game. The Sixers might have to rely on Harris to be their closer since Jimmy Butler is no longer on the squad.
Harris is shooting 48.9 percent from the field and 29.5 percent from beyond the arc on the season for the Sixers, who are 15-6, good for fourth place in the East. Philly is hoping Harris' 3-point shooting increases as the season moves along. For whatever reason, Harris has struggled from deep through the first 21 games.
