Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown will remain in constant contact with second-year guard Markelle Fultz while the former No. 1 overall pick is away from the team.

Fultz is scheduled to visit a shoulder specialist in New York within the next week. He won’t participate in full practices or games until the specialist has had the opportunity to evaluate him.

This is just the latest setback for Markelle Fultz, who only played in 14 games during his rookie season due to scapular muscle imbalance in his right shoulder. His sophomore campaign hasn't been much better. The 20-year-old's shot still has a nasty hitch to it, and he has airballed a couple of 3-pointers this season. Fultz's free-throw routine has also caught the eye of many people.

In 19 games this season, Fultz is averaging 8.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 41.9 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from beyond the arc and 56.8 percent from the free-throw line. The 6-foot-4 combo guard has no confidence in his shot, which is sad to see considering he was a fun and special player to watch at the University of Washington.

Hopefully, the shoulder specialist will be able to identify what the real issue is with Markelle Fultz.
