The Philadelphia 76ers have shut down rumors that Brett Brown's days as Sixers head coach are numbered after the team's second round playoffs defeat to the Toronto Raptors.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Philly's managing partner Josh Harris confirmed that Brown will return as the team's head coach next season — contrary to previous reports that his job is in danger after losing to the Raptors.

Brown has been the head coach of the Sixers since 2013. He received a contract extension last year after guiding Philly to their first postseason berth since 2012, but his future was cast in doubt recently following the team's failure to reach the 2019 Eastern Conference Finals.

The 58-year-old coach has three years left in his contract with the Sixers. Now, with all the speculations about his future gone, he can now focus on improving the team and addressing the issues they saw in the playoffs.

The team's struggles in the postseason can't be solely blamed on Brown. Outside of Jimmy Butler, the rest of the team's starters have struggled against Toronto. If the Sixers will be able to re-sign Butler and Tobias Harris this summer, they will have a great opportunity to dominate the East, especially if Joel Embiid returns healthy.

The Sixers' confidence in Brown remains and looking at their journey over the past five years, it's clear that they are on the rise under his watch. It's a good move by the team's front office, as they remain committed to one of the integral parts of “The Process.”
