It has been nothing short of a long rebuilding process for the Philadelphia 76ers over the last few seasons.

However, there is much optimism around the organization heading into this upcoming season that they can snap their five-year playoff drought. One of the 76ers' biggest supporters in that regard is Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, who visited head coach Brett Brown's home on Monday at their special team gathering according to Jessica Camerato of CSN Philly:

Head coach Brett Brown hosted the Sixers at his home for a team gathering on Monday. The team arranged for Barkley to arrive as a surprise guest for the players.

Barkley delivered his message loud and clear.

“Pretty much, make the playoffs,” Richaun Holmes said on Tuesday at training camp.

The 76ers have constructed a young and promising roster that has the potential to take a significant step forward this upcoming season. However, injuries to their core players have played a big part in derailing that from coming to fruition over the last couple of years.

This saw Ben Simmons miss of his first year with a broken foot while Joel Embiid played in a limited role and suffered a season-ending knee injury in March. Barkley hasn't been alone on setting the bar high for the 76ers with fellow Hall of Famer Julius Irving holding the same stance about his former team.

The table could be set for Philadelphia to make a significant playoff push given the amount of superstar talent that has headed to the Western Conference this past offseason with the likes of Paul George, Carmelo Anthony, Paul Millsap, and Jimmy Butler all being moved. It may be all on them to take advantage of the prime opportunity in front of them to finally break through.
