Now on his fourth season in the NBA, Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons continues to prove that he is indeed the real deal. Many consider the Sixers guard to be on the path to greatness and as such, comparisons to the likes of LeBron James have become inevitable — something that Philly veteran Danny Green deems to be totally unfair.

Green, who himself played alongside LeBron with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, expressed why he believes it is not right for people to compare Simmons to James:

“I see why there’s a comparison,” said Green, via Ky Carlin of USA TODAY SPORTS. “Obviously, LeBron is one of the greatest to ever do it and Ben has the potential given the size, ability, and speed, but it’s unfair. It’s unfair to compare anybody to LeBron or compare anybody to Michael Jordan, especially at a young age.”

Fair point from Green here. Nevertheless, having already seen Simmons' potential first hand, Green also acknowledged how his superstar teammate could eventually become an all-time great, much like LeBron James:

“Ben is still learning the game and he’s still very good, but he still has a long way to go if he wants to be in that realm,” Green added. “This is an unfair comparison for anybody let alone Ben, but he has the tools and the potential to be that.”

Simmons hasn't had the hottest of starts for the Sixers this term, with the 24-year-old seeing a bit of a dip in his production to open the 2020-21 campaign. Currently, he is averaging 12.8 points (on 52.5 percent shooting), 8.4 rebounds, 7.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Those are still very impressive numbers, but as Green implied above, we all know that Simmons is capable of much more.
