As said countless times in the last few months, the NBA is currently in an exciting time in terms of having promising young guys. The 2017-18 rookie class has been quite fun to watch; the kids are letting everyone know that the league is indeed in good hands for the future.

Lauri Markkanen, Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Jayson Tatum, Dennis Smith, John Collins, Bam Adebayo, and De'Aaron Fox himself, are all included in the long list or first-year pros performing well.

For Fox, however, he sees the Rookie of the Year debate like everyone else. He knows that it's pretty much a two-man race between the Philadelphia 76ers' Ben Simmons and the Utah Jazz's Donovan Mitchell. The two, as you may know, are the guys that play at the highest level in the group, as both have the stats and the possible playoff berth to go with it.

Here's what De'Aaron Fox had to say when asked who should win the ROY plum:

“[Ben Simmons] puts up crazy numbers in every statistical category, but Donovan [Mitchell] is right up there too.. you know… multiple 40-point games He's been able to score the ball, they are on an 11-game winning streak… so it's a tough pick between the two, but I don't think you can go wrong with either one.”

Quick case on the two superb rookies:

Ben Simmons is a giant floor general who can provide an array of things. Averaging 16.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 1.9 steals on 52.7-percent shooting, he's a key reason why the Sixers are currently in the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.

Mitchell, meanwhile, is flat-out playing like a young Dwyane Wade. He leads all rookies in scoring with 19.6 points per game, and undoubtedly has all the makings of a superstar.
