It was all laughs and jokes for the Philadelphia 76ers after their sterling 130-114 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Monday. Sixers coach Doc Rivers was on a Zoom call with reporters after the game when he asked Joel Embiid a rather intriguing question.

The humorous light conversation means good things for the Sixers as Rivers and Embiid continue to be on the same page.

Embiid has another huge double-double for the Sixers with 24 points and 13 rebounds. As he has displayed all season, he started the first half with a strong effort by dominating Pacers center Myles Turner on the offensive end. Embiid’s imposing play provided a spark for the rest of his teammates. Shake Milton ended up with a team-high 26 points off the bench, while Ben Simmons also provided a fantastic effort with 18 points and six rebounds.

Embiid continues to be the frontrunner for the MVP trophy with averages of 29.8 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks. An important factor of his monster year is his field goal shooting with a 52 percent clip, including 41 percent from three-point range. The Sixers have gravitated to his high level of play, which has resulted in a 23-12 record to lead the Eastern Conference.

Embiid said his ankle felt pretty sore after tonight’s contest. But he shows no concern that it will keep him sidelined in their upcoming games.

Joel Embiid and the Sixers have their next matchup against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday to close the first half of the season. As the Jazz suffered a recent loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, it allows the Sixers to carry the momentum to their advantage.
