The Philadelphia 76ers find themselves in a bit of a predicament with Ben Simmons continuing to hold out. He is refusing to ever play for the Sixers organization again, which means they must explore other options at point guard right now.

Tyrese Maxey and Shake Milton look to be the top two candidates to replace the Aussie in the Philly backcourt, while Tobias Harris is also capable of playing like a point forward. Head coach Doc Rivers was asked about the situation and if he's considered bringing in another PG to run the offense. The Sixers boss didn't exactly sound too worried about what the team currently has. Via Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer:

“I'm fine. Like if we can get one, great,”Rivers said. “I don't worry about what we don't have. you're talking to the wrong guy. We are going to win with what we have. That's what I've always thought.”

Maxey and Milton are capable, but they're nowhere near the player that Simmons is, despite his struggles in the playoffs. His playmaking and rebounding abilities will be hard to replace, but clearly, Rivers has faith the Sixers can get the job done.

Maxey showed enormous strides primarily on the defensive end in 2020-21 but averaged just eight points and two assists per night in his rookie campaign. Milton was more efficient, putting up 13 points and 3.1 dimes. He started against the Raptors on Thursday but didn't look great, scoring just five points. Maxey dropped 14 off the bench, though.

Trading for another guard is not out of the question, but the Sixers will make due for the time being.
