Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden won over the hearts of millions during his speech on Tuesday in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. One of those individuals that felt “honored” by the Democratic candidate was Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers after Biden quoted one of his messages on social justice.

“I am honored that Vice President Biden chose my words as an example for needing social change,” Rivers said Wednesday according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. “These are human rights issues that we are fighting for. …Every American should want social justice for all regardless of race, gender or political beliefs.”

After a Game 5 win against the Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs, Rivers, now the head coach of the Sixers, delivered a heartfelt, emotional message as he spoke on behalf of African Americans that've been subject to police brutality and social injustices throughout the years.

As shown below, Biden sounded off Rivers' impactful words during his campaign speech. Rivers main objective in his speech, as echoed by the former vice president, is how Blacks “continue to love a country that doesn't love them back” as the Sixers coach expressed in anguish last month.

Biden has been vocal about helping fight the constant battle of police brutality and racism that has long been embedded in America. His noting of Rivers' message is evidence in that fact. His adversary in President Donald Trump, however, has often mocked NBA players in their efforts to protest social injustices.

The NBA office has repeatedly committed to the continuing progression and elevation for African Americans that are often victimized and less fortunate in today's society. Rivers will continue his fight for equality amongst all races with his new team in the Sixers.
