The Philadelphia 76ers suffered another loss on Monday, as they fell to the Atalanta Hawks, 112-94. For his part, however, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers had other things on his mind. After Monday's loss, what Rivers wanted to talk about was Philly's matchup against the Denver Nuggets last Saturday.

The veteran coach did not hold back with his criticism on the league for still forcing the Sixers to take the floor despite having just seven players active due to COVID-19 health protocols:

“We were not happy with what went down (Saturday),” Rivers said, via Derek Bodner of The Athetic Philadelphia. “We really only had seven guys, the number's eight, and we don't understand why we played that game. But listen, I'm just a coach.”

Rivers does make a point here. The Sixers only had seven active players listed for Saturday's matchup, so that was a bit of a head-scratcher. Unsurprisingly, an extremely shorthanded Philly side that was missing no less than four starters suffered a loss against the Nuggets, 115-103.

The Sixers had a bit more players available for Monday against Atlanta, but they were still missing a number of key guys. Joel Embiid was able to take the floor, though, leading Philadelphia with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and an assist in 23 minutes of action.

Philly is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday in a matchup against the Miami Heat. Right now, all indications point to the fact that that game will push through, despite how the NBA has already postponed a number of games due to COVID-19-related concerns.
