Al Horford is up for a big season with the Philadelphia 76ers. Teaming up with Joel Embiid this season, this will be one of his best opportunities to win an NBA title. He makes the Sixers so good that Dwane Casey compares him to a future Hall of Famer.

The former coach of the year talked to Marc Narducci of The Philadelphia Inquirer and gave Horford some big praise. Casey also claimed Horford's game reminds him of San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan:

Detroit Pistons coach Dwane Casey has never coached Horford, but likely wishes he could.

“He is always one of those guys who is unassuming, all at once you forget about him, he hits a trail three, there is a pass, a defensive play [that he makes] and he is like an old security blanket, not flashy,” Casey said before Tuesday’s 106-86 preseason loss to the Sixers. “He reminds me a lot of Tim Duncan.”

The comparison makes some sense if we take a close inspection of Horford's game. While his career averages (14.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists) don't hold a candle to Duncan's, his influence on the game is obvious. His abilities to pass, play in the post, and create space with his 3-point shot is extremely valuable. He's going to be a great partner for Joel Embiid as the Cameroonian All-Star likes to operate down low.

Of course, nothing is set in stone until the season finally kicks in. Nevertheless, it's terrifying to think that Al Horford will be playing for Philly. The more you think about it, the more Casey's comments make sense.
