The Philadelphia Sixers have an open roster spot thanks to the Jimmy Butler trade. However, do not expect them to use it anytime soon.

The 76ers and the Minnesota Timberwolves officially announced the trade Monday. The Sixers sent Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless and a future second round pick for Jimmy Butler and Justin Patton.

There are not many notable free agents still available. There could be one free agent that could spark the 76ers interest if he does become available: Houston Rockets forward Carmelo Anthony.

Yes, he has struggled this season, but he adds the shooting element in which the team needs right now. They do not have many shooters or spacing on the floor now, which is why Anthony could interest them.

The buyout market should be strong this season, and the Sixers may be looking at that for additions to help improve their team to win now. The 76ers are in desperate need of three point shooting. With the stars the franchise has, those three point shooters should be wide open.

The Sixers are 9-6, and third in the Eastern Conference. The Butler trade should help catapult them into the conversation as one of the best teams in the East.

However, with the big time trade they just made, do not expect Elton Brand and the Sixers to do anything soon.
