Sixers general manager Elton Brand has confidence in his team for the coming season. In fact, he feels that the team has “a championship DNA in place.”
“I think what we’ve done is put in place the championship DNA, in order to be a contending team for years to come,” Brand told ESPN's Tim Bontemps during Friday morning's introductory presser for the team's recent acquisitions.
The Sixers landed one of the best free agents in this offseason, signing Al Horford to a four-year deal. Brand believes Horford will play a key role for the team going forward:
Brand highlights the importance of having Horford to serve as a backstop behind Joel Embiid, keeping the Sixers from struggling whenever Embiid is on the bench like they did last year.

The acquisition of Horford was big for Philly, as he'll pair nicely with Joel Embiid. Horford and Embiid won't be the only show in town, though. Tobias Harris agreed to return to the team, and let's not forget about Ben Simmons' presence in the backcourt.
“It was a win-win to come back here and be in a situation where I could continue to develop and be in a place to contend for championships for years to come,” Harris told Bontemps.
Brand is right to be confident in his roster. After all, the Sixers made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Semifinals last season, only to be defeated by a series-clinching buzzer-beater from Kawhi Leonard. This season, Vegas is once again listing Philadelphia as one of the favorites to win it all.
