Jahlil Okafor wants out of Philadelphia, but the 76ers aren’t going to let him go that easily. After the Sixers declined its fourth-year option on the big man, Okafor’s camp made it clear that he wants out of the team, too, by requesting a buyout.

However, the Sixers remains adamant of its desire to trade the former Duke Blue Devil instead of agreeing on a buyout, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

By electing not to pick up their option on Okafor, the Sixers made some significant space on their salary cap for next season. According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, the team is in line to have $39 million worth of spending power in the next free agency and now has enough to satisfy Robert Covington once they try to talk with the sweet-shooting forward for an extension deal.

Jahlil Okafor is growing more and more disappointed of his stint in Philadelphia, which isn’t giving him enough playing time to showcase why he was a lottery pick in 2015. Okafor could also blame injuries for his slow progress in the NBA, but when healthy, he’s got plenty to give to any team that would have his services.

Okafor has career averages of 14.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game.
