James Harden and Joel Embiid didn't have the dream season they were hoping for when they joined forced on the Philadelphia 76ers. Their forged partnership at the 2022 NBA trade deadline spurred a five-game winning streak and a look of dominance that had Philly residents smelling a trip to the NBA Finals, or at least close to it.

But that wasn't the case, as Embiid's Sixers side once again fell off before even making the Eastern Conference Finals. But James Harden has already made a personal sacrifice to help the team add weapons around him and Joel. He's also committed to making things work with his new dance partner, maintaining constant communication with the 2022 MVP runner-up.

“I talk with Joel frequently and we have meetings about how we’re going to play and what we need to do to help our team win a championship,” Harden told Yahoo Sports. “When you have two of the top players at their positions on the same team, that’s a great building block. We’re going to grow together and try to lead this team to the top. I believe we can do it together.”

James Harden has looked far from the spitfire superstar striking fear into defenders from a couple years back. Even Joel Embiid admitted such after the Sixers' unceremonious exit from the playoffs. But he's still an elite talent in this league with a clear motivation to cap his career with a championship, something that Embiid himself clearly covets just as badly.
