The infamous film room session that brought the reported altercation between the Philadelphia 76ers' Jimmy Butler and Brett Brown was not just about more pick-and-rolls, but also the role of other players. Among them was T.J. McConnell, who has been one of the Sixers' most productive cogs in limited playing time this season.

According to ESPN's Zach Lowe, McConnell was nudged by an assistant coach to speak about his concerns, but Butler took matters into his own hands by mentioning McConnell's role when given the chance to speak his mind.

Brown had welcomed opinions from the players in hopes to harmonize the environment and create an open atmosphere, which is why he never considered his airing out of grievances with Butler as out of line.

“When you ask the team, ‘What do you see?' you'd better be prepared to listen,” said Brown. “I'm OK with it. I have to be. I am the instigator.”

It is unclear what T.J. McConnell wanted to change about his role, but whatever it is, it's very likely Jimmy Butler was right there to support him in it. The Arizona standout is one of the most popular figures in the Sixers locker room for his effort, grittiness, and all-around motor.

McConnell is averaging the least amount of minutes (20.7) since his rookie season despite shooting a career-high from the field (54.5 percent) while taking the least amount of shots he's ever taken in a season.

Whether it is more minutes or more on-the-ball action, the 26-year-old point man clearly has the support of Butler, and hopefully Brown as well, if he decides to take action in any of these recommendations.
