Jimmy Butler's controversial heated conversation with Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown has been beaten like a drum since reports of their “confrontation” went viral after a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Butler addressed the origin of it one last time, hoping to bring clarity to the nature of their exchange.

“I want to understand why we do certain things and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that,” said Butler, according to Ros Gold-Onwude of NBA TV. “If I don’t feel comfortable I’m going to speak up.”

Asked if he yelled during the exchange with his coach, Butler was firm in response: “No, not at all.”

Butler reportedly wanted to be featured in more pick-and-roll sets, a play type that enhances his chances to score and facilitate for his team, rather than letting the flow of Brown's motion offense find his hands.

The 6-foot-7 forward's production had diminished noticeably since joining the Sixers, no longer the go-to man with the ball in his hands, now playing with two capable offensive kickstarters in Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.

Butler's exchange with Brown came after the latter admittedly asked the team for ideas after the Sixers had hit a rut offensively, something he deemed normal during the vast length of the 82-game season.

Unfortunately for Butler, his reputation as a fiery player sets precedent for potential chaos, but neither player nor coach thinks their exchange was disrespectful or detrimental to the team, thinking of it as rather beneficial banter between the two.
