Philadelphia 76ers forward Jimmy Butler finally made his home debut for his new ballclub, and it is everything he expected as he received a rising welcome from Sixers fans in the Wells Fargo Center.

Jimmy Butler is playing only his second game for the Sixers after getting traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this week. His first appearance for the team was a road match against the Orlando Magic — during which he surprisingly received an ovation from Magic fans in attendance.

The Sixers acquired Butler in exchange for Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round pick. The 29-year-old swingman played in just 10 games for the Timberwolves this season, averaging 21.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists.

Unsurprisingly, Butler’s first game for the Sixers didn’t go as planned. He scored only 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting and had four rebounds and two assists as the team narrowly lost to the struggling Orlando team.

As proven by Butler’s welcome in Philly, Sixers fans are certainly still high on their new man despite the losing start. However, Butler needs to show soon that he can deliver wins for the team as they aim to contend not only for a playoff spot but also for the Larry O’Brien trophy.
