The internet never forgets. These are the very words Philadelphia Sixers big man Mike Muscala learned when an old controversial tweet sent out by his father pertaining to new teammate Jimmy Butler's trade demands was recently unearthed by Reddit.

Thanks to a redditor that goes by the name u/heatkings, the world was reminded about a contentious month-old statement made by Muscala's father, which many considered to be highly inappropriate. Below are the tweets in question.

Well, that's certainly be an awkward first Sixers meeting between Butler and Muscala in practice.

Then again, Muscala did distance himself from his father's statement and did have the backing of the Sixers organization, so I guess that somehow puts him in the clear. Let's just hope Muscala's dad doesn't bump into Butler anytime soon.

Admittedly, Butler's actions that led to his eventual exit was nowhere near the level of professionalism that is expected from any NBA player, regardless of status. He could have handled the situation much better, but still, this does not take away the fact that Muscala's father's sentiments were still way out of line.

With his move back to the East, Butler has turned the page on an ugly chapter of his career. It's an opportunity for a fresh start for the 29-year-old, and he probably could not have wished for a better ending to one of the strangest series of events we've witnessed in quite some time. Good for the Sixers, though.
