Philadelphia 76ers star Jimmy Butler and Toronto Raptors star Kawhi Leonard have dominated headlines this year thanks to trade requests from the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs, respectively. On Wednesday night, the two players will square off in a battle of Eastern Conference powerhouses.

Butler discussed the friendship he has with Leonard and the common ground they found through their similar experiences. Butler told Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports:

“We used to be with Jordan brand together, so we'd always spend a couple days in the summer down in San Diego or up in LA. You learn from guys that are that talented in the league …

“I've been traded, he's been traded. We just want each other to be happy, that's where the common ground comes in. You just wanna hoop, smile, be able to love going to work every day. That's what the majority of our conversations have been about as of late.”

It's fitting that the two superstars landed in the same division. The Atlantic Division rivals have three more matchups against one another this season. Of course, these two teams could meet in the playoffs for a seven-game slugfest. Leonard and Butler have helped take their teams to the next level, and they appear to be destined for a playoff meeting.

Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard may have a great relationship right now, but it would still be fun to watch the two trade blows in an Eastern Conference Finals.
