Butler has a player option worth $19.8 million for the 2019-20 NBA season. If he exercises this option, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Was Butler's Instagram post on Thursday his farewell message to Philadelphia? On the other hand, was it just a simple thank you post for the city and Butler's teammates? We'll never know for sure.

Butler enjoyed a successful season with Philly. He averaged 18.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists during the regular season. Butler took his game to a higher level in the playoffs. He averaged 19.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists.

Butler scored 36 points in the first game of the Sixers' first-round playoff series against the Brooklyn Nets. He also scored at least 22 points in five of the seven games against the Toronto Raptors in the second round.

The trio of Butler, Joel Embiid, and Ben Simmons gives the Sixers a solid foundation for the foreseeable future. If unrestricted free agents Tobias Harris and J.J. Redick re-sign with Philly, the Sixers should register their third consecutive 50-win season in 2019-20.

For now, that scenario remains a big “if.” Butler's post has everyone in Philadelphia in suspense. Will he remain with the Sixers? We should find out the answer in the next few weeks or so.
