The Philadelphia 76ers pulled a rabbit out of the hat courtesy of its newest addition Jimmy Butler. The All-Star forward came up big in the clutch and nailed a game-winning three-pointer in overtime to deliver the 122-119 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

Butler, however, missed a chance to shut the door on the Hornets in regulation with a clean turn around jumper at the top of the key. But he wasn't about to let his new team down for two consecutive opportunities in a row. In a post-game interview, Butler revealed that teammate JJ Redick gave him fuel and motivation to make sure his shot in overtime went in. This proved to be what he just needed to bag the win for Philadelphia.

“JJ [Redick] walked on and said ‘I bet you won’t call game on this one.’ I had to listen to him, man. I’m confident in the shots that I take, but that one, I’m glad that I made it.” Butler said.

Take a look at the interview below:

The notorious forward certainly isn't one to lack in the confidence department. But he did admit that he was happy to make this one, as he tries to prove his value to his new team.

Philadelphia did, in fact, bring in Butler to make plays in crunch time. Prior to his arrival, the Sixers lacked a closer in the clutch who can create a shot for himself or make a play for his teammates.

In addition, Butler's game-winning dagger spoiled Kemba Walker's historic and scintillating night. The Hornets' All-Star guard gave Butler all he can handle as he dropped 60 points with Butler as his primary defender. Nonetheless, Jimmy G. Buckets did have the last laugh on the evening.
