Former Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard JJ Redick took out a full page ad in the Sunday edition of the Philadelphia Inquirer to thank Sixers fans for supporting him and the team in the past two years.

“Thank you for an incredible experience. The past two seasons were unforgettable,” Redick wrote. “There is nothing like playing in Philadelphia and I'm so fortunate to have worn the 76ers jersey.”

Redick signed as an unrestricted free agent with the up-and-coming New Orleans Pelicans, who won the NBA Draft Lottery and selected Duke product Zion Williamson with the first overall pick in the draft. Redick attended Duke for four years and averaged over 26 points per game during his senior year in Durham.

Redick spent two seasons in Philly, helping the team build around All-Stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. He was also pivotal for the Sixers in making the playoffs the past two years, playing in Philly's 22 postseason games and shooting 38.3 percent from 3-point range.

In his time in Philly, the 35-year-old Redick averaged 17.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 30.8 minutes per game, shooting 44.9 percent from the floor, 40.7 percent from deep and 89.9 percent from the free throw line.

Redick joins a New Orleans team that is full with young talent — similar to his situation when he joined the Sixers after four years with the Los Angeles Clippers.
