Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid and shooting guard J.J. Redick helped get the team back in the win column with their performances in Saturday's win versus the Chicago Bulls. However, it seems Philadelphia will need to find a way to beat the Miami Heat without them.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Embiid and Redick will sit out of Tuesday's game against the Heat:

Sixers center Joel Embiid and SG JJ Redick won’t play in tomorrow’s game against the Miami Heat.

The update is hardly surprising considering the Sixers have taken a cautious approach when it comes to resting their star players down the final stretch of the 2018-19 NBA season. Wingman Jimmy Butler had sat out his second consecutive game against the Bulls due to back tightness. Embiid is also currently dealing with a sore knee while Redick's veteran status has likely spurred Philadelphia's decision to have them rest this week.

It is clear that the Sixers are taking full advantage of their position in the playoffs after officially clinching the No. 3 seed. Although Philadelphia has not been shy about their expectations since prior to the season, they now finally have an opportunity to make it come to fruition. As a result, they will likely not be taking any chances with the health of their star players over these next two games. It is no secret that the East is up for grabs this year and they know full well that they will need to be at full strength if they hope to come out on top.
