Put simply: Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has been a rebounding machine since he first took the floor in 2016. Since then, he has become the quickest player to amass 2,000 rebounds in his career since Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs in 1999. In Sixers history, he was just six games behind the pace of George McGinnis.

Embiid's 2,000th board came during a 32-point, 11-rebound performance which saw the Sixers on the winning side of the ledger. The big man has now reeled off three consecutive games with at least 25 points and 10 rebounds, with seven straight contests having seen him notch double-digit rebound totals.

Last season, Embiid averaged 13.6 rebounds per contest, the second most in the league behind only Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons. In the early going of 2019-20, Embiid sits at 12.3 boards on a nightly basis, which has cratered him down the list to eighth in the league.

The fourth-year center entered this season with MVP aspirations after his gaudy performances of the 2018-19 year. But firstly, Philadelphia has kept an eye on keeping Embiid on the floor, as he is yet to play more than 64 games in a single regular season. Despite that, when he has been able to suit up, he has dominated on the glass.

Consider that Embiid is still averaging better than a dozen boards per game despite playing alongside a formidable rebounding crew of Al Horford, Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons. The sky has always been the limit for Embiid when he has been able to stay healthy and this is surely far from the last time that he'll make history in his career.
