Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is indeed a walking bucket, owning one of the best offensive repertoires among today’s big men. He possesses an array of impressive post moves, a jumper that extends past the three-point arc and he can bring even bring the ball down the floor and attack the basket at will.

But none of those worked for him on Monday night as the Cameroonian center was held scoreless in the Sixers’ 101-96 loss to the defending champions Toronto Raptors on Monday.

Embiid, who corralled 13 rebounds and dished out two assists in 32 minutes of play, had zero points to his name – a first in his four-year pro career. The two-time All-Star went 0-11 from the field and missed all four of his attempts from downtown.

He also failed to get himself to the foul line, taking no free throw shots the entire game. Marc Gasol’s solid interior defense bothered him all night, while he never really got into rhythm since the opening bell.

Embiid’s off night will likely light a fuse under him in Philly’s next game against the Sacramento Kings on Friday. Prior to the Raptors game, he was averaging 22.8 points, 11.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 block and 1.4 steals in 29.0 minutes per game. Embiid still leads Philly in three statistical categories in points, rebounds, and blocks.

The Sixers (11-6) saw their four-game winning streak snapped and are still in fifth place of the tight Eastern Conference standings. The Raptors, meanwhile, improved to 12-4 and are tied with the Boston Celtics for the number two spot.
