Ben Simmons might know that Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid is a huge fan of football… or soccer, as it is more commonly called in the United States.
The Sixers big man has been quite active on Twitter in recent days, openly discussing the goings-on in the world of international football. On Tuesday, Embiid came out with a Real Madrid-related tweet, and unsurprisingly, NBA fans couldn't help but throw Ben Simmons into the mix.
The summer transfer window has been insane in the world of football. Embiid was hoping that his Real Madrid club would jump in on the action:

For what it's worth, Real Madrid has been relatively quiet during the transfer window. The club has been linked to a sensational swoop-in bid for PSG's Kylian Mbappe, but it looks like that deal isn't going to be happening anytime soon.
It's interesting to consider Joel Embiid's choice of words here. In the football world, “trades” aren't a common occurrence. Teams usually just buy players outright from opposing clubs, which is why the term more commonly used is “transfer.” Embiid knows his football, and it seems that his use of the word “trade” was intentional, especially considering how Simmons just made his trade demand official.
As for Ben Simmons, the Sixers are still trying to work on a deal that will get him out of Philly. Nothing is certain at this point, though, except that the former NBA Rookie of the Year won't be signing for Real Madrid.
