So far in the 2021 NBA season, Philadelphia 76ers (Sixers) center Joel Embiid had one of the better seasons of his career. On Friday he got his 6th straight 30-point game in a win over the Spurs. In doing so, Joel joins Wilt Chamberlain and Allen Iverson as the only players in 76ers history to score 30 points in six straight games.

It shouldn't come as a huge surprise to hear that the Sixers are also 6-0 in that stretch. As Embiid has kicked his scoring into high-gear, so has his team with their energy. Possibly finally getting over the fatigue that is the “Ben Simmons drama,” is a good thing for this Philadelphia team that started hot before a cold stretch had them as a middle-of-the-pack team by December. With the six-game win streak, they have climbed up to second place in the Atlantic Division and the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference playoff standings.

With just over half of the season left to be played, there is plenty of time for the Sixers and Embiid to make their way to the top of the Conference. Shoot, if Embiid is going to continue on a tear like this, they may never lose again…All jokes aside, the Sixers are peaking at a perfect time with the trade deadline and All-Star break approaching.

The Sixers as a team are showing to general manager Daryl Morey with their play that they are deserving of being a “buyer” and not a “seller” at the deadline. Also, once the trade deadline passes, the drama with Simmons will officially be over. He will either be traded…or if he is not, the Sixers will know that they will not be getting anything in return for him and can move on with developing the players that want to be there.
