Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has been dealing with a sore back, and it sounds like he could be sidelined for two more games, according to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Sixers, losers in seven of their last eight games, will likely rest Embiid for the remainder of this week. He's been held out of Philly's last two games (losses to the Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings). However, league sources tell Wojnarowski that the former Kansas Jayhawk could be available for Monday night's match-up against the New York Knicks.

In his 23 games played this season, Embiid, now 23 years of age, has turned in averages of 24.1 points on 49.1 percent shooting from the field, 11.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.9 blocks. Without question, he's established himself as one of the more dominant big men in the NBA.

Embiid last played on Friday night in a triple-overtime loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he logged a career-high 49 minutes of playing time.

The Sixers, now the 4th-ranked team in the Atlantic Division, will be back in action on Thursday night, when they'll welcome the Toronto Raptors to the Wells Fargo Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST.
