Joel Embiid loves to tamper. After the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, Embiid took to Twitter to post something about the game. This is a normal occurrence, and usually has something humorous incorporated into it. This time, not only was it humorous, but it was tamper-y.

Embiid posted that he had a great time playing against Cavs star LeBron James, but also made a slight — aka not slight at all —mention of the decision James will have to make this summer.

It's not against the rules for a player to text, tweet, or talk to another player about joining forces. General managers can't do it, but players can. Problematic as that may be, it's the rule.

This isn't the first time Embiid has made some comment about wanting James to join him and the Sixers. In fact, it's happened enough that it wouldn't make any sense to find another instance of it.

It's obviously funny toes Embiid openly recruits James like this, and there are actually plenty of NBA people who have said that James would fit really well with the Sixers, with joining them being one of the best opportunities to win a championship within the next few of years.

But there is something problematic about players being allowed to do this and not getting any repercussion. The NBA is crazy if it thinks that just because they are players, their opinions have no power to sway a free agent into joining a certain team.

The evidence is significant to the contrary.

Everyone is wondering whether or not James will leave the Cavs. We won't know until the summer. But if he ends up with the Sixers, we will know why, and the NBA will have to look hard at it.

For the rest of the competition, the Sixers would be a handful for years to come.
