Joel Embiid has seen the future.

The Philadelphia 76ers star center is enjoying quite a bit of celebrity this season. It's mainly fueled by his play on the basketball court, but also has plenty to do with his quirky antics on social media.

So many people love Embiid, but he thinks that love will soon dissipate, per Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

“People love you at the beginning,” Embiid explains. “But at some point they're gonna start hating you. LeBron. Russell Westbrook. All the superstars. Even Steph. He's so likable. He does nothing wrong, but some people still hate him. It just comes with the nature of it. I've seen it.I feel like I'm about to go through it. I think it's coming. People always want something new.”

Embiid is definitely onto something there. At a young age, he's already realized how the modern sports fan thinks, and understands that any praise will eventually turn to wanting to see him fail for no sound reason whatsoever.

Part of the issue is Embiid is so good, that haters will watch him just so they can witness him have a bad game or his team lose. And with the way Embiid's personality is, it's not difficult to predict he may wear on people quickly.

It may be ridiculous, but that's how sports fans think. But knowing Embiid, he'll probably find some way to use it as fuel.
